How to get to Barcelona?

Barcelona airport is directly connected with flights from 238 cities around the world.

The airport is located 16 km south of the city and has 2 terminals that handle incoming and outgoing flights depending on the origin and type of the airline.

Barcelona is connected by means of the Spanish High-Speed Train (AVE) network to the main cities of Spain and Europe, with connectivity from France.

Transfers between the airport and Barcelona

Aerobus

Both terminals have a bus service connecting them with major locations in downtown Barcelona (Plaça Espanya, Plaça Catalunya). The average journey is 30 minutes with a frequency of 4/7 minutes and the service is available from 5:35 a.m. to 01:00 a.m. Tickets may be purchased at the bus stop, either from the driver or the ticket vending machines. (Price: €7.25 per trip and €12.50 per round trip).

Metro

The L9 Sud line connects both terminals with Barcelona and with the main city metro network. The average journey is 32 minutes with a frequency of 7 minutes. (Price: €5.50 per trip).

Bus

Bus 46 connects Barcelona city and its terminals (Plaça Espanya – Airport). The operating hours are 4:50 a.m. to 11:50 p.m., and the frequency varies throughout the day: buses leave the airport every 15 or 30 minutes. (Price: €2.20 per trip).

Taxis

There are taxi stations in both terminals with enough vehicles to provide transfers to the city. The average journey from the airport to downtown Barcelona lasts approximately 25 minutes and the average price per journey is around €35.

Language

The official languages in Catalonia are Catalan and Spanish.

Currency

The official currency is the euro (€). Other currencies are rarely accepted but you can easily pay by credit/debit card or withdraw cash from ATMs. You can also exchange foreign currencies in the currency exchange bureaus, banks or post offices, located in the city centre or at the airport.

Power supply

Standard voltage is 230 V, and frequency is 50 Hz. The sockets are F type.

Health

All participants must ensure they have health insurance to cover their expenses in the event of an accident or other medical issues. The Congress organisers cannot provide you with insurance coverage.

In an emergency, you can go to any hospital in the city, the closest to the Convention Cnetre (CCIB) being the Hospital de Mar. To find the nearest open pharmacy, use the pharmacy locator.

Opening hours

Shops, malls and supermarkets are usually open from 9.30 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. Lunch hours in the city are usually between 1.30 p.m. and 3.30p.m. and dinner hours between 8.30 p.m. and 10.00 p.m.

Weather
