Sign up and explore some of the most remarkable archives in Barcelona and Catalonia
The International Archives Congress – ICA Barcelona 2025 invites attendees to join its programme of visits to archives in Barcelona and Catalonia, offering a unique opportunity to gain an insider’s perspective on how documentary heritage is preserved, managed, and shared. These visits are part of the Congress’s social programme and provide an insight into the technical, cultural, and human efforts behind the region’s leading archives.
Dates: 27–31 October 2025
Languages: Catalan, Spanish, and English (limited spaces; not available in French).
Free access with Congress accreditation.
Participating archives:
- Sagrada Família Archive – Documentation and preservation of Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece.
- Barcelona City Historical Archive (AHCB) – Municipal and heritage collections housed in the iconic Casa de l’Ardiaca.
- General Archive of the Barcelona Provincial Council (AGDB) – Preservation and promotion of the documentary and bibliographic heritage of the Barcelona Provincial Council, located at the former Maternity House.
- National Archive of Catalonia (ANC) – The reference centre for preserving Catalonia’s documentary heritage, located in Sant Cugat del Vallès.
- Archive of the Crown of Aragon (ACA) – A modern and historic site housing what is considered the most comprehensive archive of a medieval monarchy, crucial for studying European history.
- Barcelona Photographic Archive (AFB) – Preservation and dissemination of the city’s visual heritage.
- Barcelona Contemporary Municipal Archive (AMCB) – Administrative records of Barcelona City Council from the 19th century to the present day.
- TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio Archive – Audiovisual archive of Catalonia’s public media.

Registration:
Those wishing to visit these archives must follow a few simple steps to register and confirm attendance:
- Log in to your personal account in the User Area of the official International Archives Congress – ICA Barcelona 2025 website.
- If you’ve forgotten your password, click “I’ve forgotten my password”. Enter the email address used to create your account. You’ll receive an email to reset your password and access your profile.
- Click on “Registration” (left-hand side menu).
- Under ACTIVITIES, click “Add activity”.
- Choose the activities and times that suit you best from the list.
NOTE:
- The language of each activity is specified in its description (ES – Spanish / CAT – Catalan / ENG – English).
- Some activities may become unavailable if their schedule clashes with activities you’ve already registered for.
Bringing a companion to archive visits
- Register as usual following the steps above.
- Go to “Registration Information” in the left-hand side menu.
- The name of the archive you’re visiting will appear in the right-hand side menu. Click on it.

- Click “Select this option if you wish to include a companion for this activity”.
- Provide the companion’s full name and specify whether they will attend without you.
Limited capacity
Archive visits have a limited capacity per group, so it’s essential to register in advance for yourself and/or your companion.
Cancelling registrations
You can cancel your registration at any time by accessing your User Area and clicking the “Cancel Registration” button next to the activity you wish to cancel.
